Recommended Roses for Santa Clara County
Santa Clara County provides wonderful
climate and soil conditions for growing roses. Gardeners can usually expect
roses from April through the end of December. The soil and the water tend
to be alkaline, so be sure to do a soil test prior to planting your roses.
Roses that are not disease-resistant can usually do well here, although
they tend to require spraying with an assortment of pesticides.
Members of the SCCRS have noted that certain varieties do extremely well in
this county, with minimal care and little disease. Varieties that are
italicized are fragrant.
